CEX.IO will support Golem token migration: GNT to GLM

Golem initiated a token migration from GNT to GLM to become an ERC-20 token. We’re glad to announce that CEX.IO will support this migration. The process will be automatic and our customers do not need to take any action.
To handle the migration, we will suspend GNT deposits and withdrawals and close GNT/USD, GNT/USDT trading on December 11, 2020. In a few days, we’ll transfer GNT to GLM at a 1:1 ratio and launch GLM trading.
So, if you have GNT tokens on your CEX.IO account, you’ll get the same amount of new GLM tokens instead. In fact, it will be the same cryptocurrency with just another name and certain characteristics.
Why does Golem migrate? Golem is migrating to an ERC-20 compliant standard. This is necessary for the functioning of the New Golem platform, which transaction framework is built on Ethereum’s Layer 2.
The current Golem token was launched at a time when ERC-20 was not so widely adopted. Nowadays, support of the ERC-20 standard allows the token to be used across a r..

A look at Ethereum and the history of the second biggest cryptocurrency in terms of volume

Second only to Bitcoin in terms of market capitalisation, Ethereum is an open-source, blockchain-powered, distributed computing platform. Apart from its native cryptocurrency—Ether (ETH)—the platform enables Smart Contracts and Decentralised Applications (DApps) that are effectively censorship-resistant, tamper-proof, and have minimal downtime. Above all, they can function peer-to-peer—that is, without third-party intervention.
As a cryptocurrency, Ethereum has a similar function as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and so on. However, as an open-source “Virtual Machine”, Ethereum broadens the community’s scope for decentralised and distributed innovations.
In merely 5 years, Ethereum has grown manifold—from being among the pioneers of Initial Coin Offering (ICO) to becoming the framework for over 2000 decentralised applications. At the time of writing, Ethereum’s market capitalisation is over $54 billion.
This article discusses Ethereum’s journey since its launch, primarily by discussing the network..

Results are in: Winners of the CEX.IO Trading Activity Contest

On January 16th, we commenced our first-ever Trading Activity Contest. Anyone could join the race to win GBP-denominated prizes by simply actively trading on our platform. The idea was to keep it simple, and we chose the number of trades as a winning criterion. After all, it is the active traders who give the vibrancy to our markets. So we decided to celebrate them and to reward their work.
Of course, we knew that the cryptocurrency industry participants are quite inventive when it comes to participating in the competitions. So we placed a number of requirements to trades that can be qualified to participate. Among them, the minimum trade size – to avoid the inflation of numbers by micro-trades. The minimum days of participation and the maximum limit of daily trades – to reward the real effort and diligence. The final results (which, by the way, show an impressive activity!) reflect the trades that meet the contest requirements.
So here are the ninja traders – our winners who put up..
